چکیده

This work identifies the optimal sum degrees-of-freedom (DoF) of the K-user MISO Broadcast Channel (BC), in the presence of delayed channel-state information at the transmitter (CSIT) and additional current CSIT of imperfect precision. In a setting where the current channel estimation error scales — in the high SNR regime — as SNR−α for α ∈ [0, 1], the optimal sum-DoF takes the simple form (1 − α)K/( ∑K k=1 1 k ) + αK, and is the result of a novel scheme which deviates from existing efforts as it i) digitally combines interference, ii) uses MAT-type alignment where all symbols are decoded irrespective of order, and iii) utilizes a hierarchical quantizer whose output is distributed across rounds in a way that minimizes unwanted interference. These jointly deliver, for the first time, the elusive simultaneous scaling of both MAT-type delayed-CSI gains as well as ZF-type imperfect-CSI gains.

How Much CSIT Feedback is Necessary for the Multiuser MISO Broadcast Channels?

This work considers the multiuser multiple-input single-output (MISO) broadcast channel (BC), where a transmitter with M antennas transmits information to K single-antenna users, and where as expected the quality and timeliness of channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) is imperfect. Motivated by the fundamental question of how much feedback is necessary to achieve a certain perform...

On the DoF Region of the K-user MISO Broadcast Channel with Hybrid CSIT

An outer bound for the degrees of freedom (DoF) region of the K-user multiple-input single-output (MISO) broadcast channel (BC) is developed under the hybrid channel state information at transmitter (CSIT) model, in which the transmitter has instantaneous CSIT of channels to a subset of the receivers and delayed CSIT of channels to the rest of the receivers. For the 3-user MISO BC, when the tra...

The Synergistic Gains of Coded Caching and Delayed Feedback

In this paper, we consider the K-user cache-aided wireless MISO broadcast channel (BC) with random fading and delayed CSIT, and identify the optimal cache-aided degrees-offreedom (DoF) performance within a factor of 4. The achieved performance is due to a scheme that combines basic codedcaching with MAT-type schemes, and which efficiently exploits the prospective-hindsight similarities between ...

Broadcast Channels with Delayed Finite-Rate Feedback: Predict or Observe?

Most multiuser precoding techniques require accurate transmitter channel state information (CSIT) to maintain orthogonality between the users. Such techniques have proven quite fragile in time-varying channels because the CSIT is inherently imperfect due to estimation and feedback delay, as well quantization noise. An alternative approach recently proposed by Maddah-Ali and Tse (MAT) allows for...

Space-Time Interference Alignment and Degrees of Freedom Regions for the MISO Broadcast Channel with Periodic CSI Feedback

This paper characterizes the degrees of freedom (DoF) regions for the multi-user vector broadcast channel with periodic channel state information (CSI) feedback. As a part of the characterization, a new transmission method called spacetime interference alignment is proposed, which exploits both the current and past CSI jointly. Using the proposed alignment technique, an inner bound of the sum-D...
